The Garden

Hidden within the Mt. Tabor neighborhood of Southeast Portland, this extra-deep 125-foot lot has been shaped into a private, multi-layered garden. Designed by Michael Schultz and framed by towering cedar, Douglas fir, and mature palms, the garden balances recreation with quiet retreat. String lights, a ping pong table, a hammock, and a gathering area with firepit make it as suited to entertaining as it is to solitude. It’s an oasis that has rightfully earned a spot on the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon’s Garden Tours.

“The landscaping makes it feel almost hidden from the city. We’ve hosted countless dinners, celebrations, and even a 100-guest wedding here, but you can also enjoy absolute solitude in the hammock surrounded by birdsong.”
